What is a cable gland and what does it do?
A cable gland (also called a cable connector or cable fitting) is a device that secures and seals the end of a cable to electrical equipment — providing strain relief, IP-rated environmental sealing, and safe cable entry. What is a double compression cable gland?
A double compression cable gland has two sealing points — one grips the cable outer sheath and the second grips the steel wire armour. This provides IP68 sealing and mechanical retention for armoured cables (SWA, AWA, SWB, AWB types). Precigenix manufactures BW and CW type double compression glands in brass and SS, rated to IS 12943 and BS 6121.
Which cable gland is used for armoured cable?
Double compression cable glands (BW type for brass wire armour, CW type for steel wire armour) are used for armoured cables. They grip both the armour and the outer sheath, providing IP68 sealing and mechanical cable retention. Precigenix supplies all types in brass, stainless steel and nickel-plated finish.
What IP rating do Precigenix cable glands have?
Precigenix cable glands are rated IP66 (dust-tight, strong water jets) and IP68 (dust-tight, water immersion up to 1 metre for 30 minutes). Select models carry IK10 impact protection. All ratings are tested and certified per IEC 60529 standards.
