Free-cutting brass (also called leaded brass or IS:319 brass) is most commonly used for automotive precision turned parts because of its excellent machinability, dimensional stability, and good corrosion resistance. For fuel system components, lead-free ETP brass is used to meet RoHS and food-contact regulations.
What tolerances are needed for fuel jet components?
Fuel jets and carburettor components require very tight tolerances — typically ±0.002mm to ±0.005mm on jet hole diameters. Precigenix manufactures these on Swiss-type CNC turning machines with in-process gauging to maintain consistent jet performance across large production runs.
